Volunteer Program

The Welcome Centre volunteer program is a way for newcomers to get valuable Canadian experience, learn about working and life in Canada, meet new people, practice communicating in English – in a friendly, supportive environment.

We invite newcomers to help us deliver our programs and services. In this way, you can get experience in Canada that you can use when looking for a job, and it’s a great way to meet some people, make some connections and friends.

We’ll provide you training and support to do the position. We are always happy to provide a work reference if you have volunteered with the Welcome Centre. After 6 months, or 50 hours, you can also add your volunteer experience at the Welcome Centre to your work resume.

There are a few different volunteering options to choose from, depending on your interests and the time you have available. We also offer our volunteers access to a range of free or subsidized training courses, and some positions may give you free entry to activities and events.

  1. Look at the volunteer positions available at the Welcome Centre
  2. Decide what interests you?
  3. How much time do you have?
  4. Complete an application form and contact us to discuss possible positions
  5. Join us as a volunteer
  6. Build your skills, practice your English, meet new people, have some fun…
  7. Add it to your resume
  8. After 6 months volunteering you can use the Welcome Centre as a reference
