If you’re not sure what the Whistler Multicultural Network and the Welcome Centre do, then sign up to receive our monthly report for updates on all our programs and services, people and staff. Even better, come along to our Advisory Board meetings at the end of each month. We need your input to make sure we’re providing what people want, and we’re there to hear your ideas and to help develop and deliver them if we can…
In March, we were busy applying for money so we can keep running our Parenting Across Cultures program, the Multicultural Community Kitchens, and this year’s Multicultural Festival. We were also busy training volunteers for the 2018 Community Volunteer Income Tax program, developing our volunteer resource assistant position for Settlement Services, and reaching out to our Peer Educators, and to young families. Meeting people working in other communities is also important so we can learn from what happens in different places, and we were lucky enough to be able to get together with our partner organizations in Squamish and on the Sunshine Coast for a day in March. It’s always interesting to hear how different these communities are from Whistler, but also how they run similar programs to ours. On March 8, Barbora, Carole and Anni spent a (very rainy!) day in Vancouver meeting other organizations and learning about their services and programs. We also learned a lot about volunteer and peer mentoring….
At our Advisory Board meeting on March 26, we talked especially about the 2018 Festival, and how we can offer food there again this year, and about what we might do to fundraise for the WMN, so we can do even more to support all the immigrants and newcomers in Whistler.. Check out the WMN Report March 2018 for all the details on how busy we were in March, and the WMN AB minutes March 2018 for what we talked about at the meeting.
Come along to our next meeting – on Monday April 30 – we’d love to see you there….
