Every year we have fun at the Multicultural Festival with a piñata made by our Mexican community. They make amazingly big and complicated piñatas for the children, and then run a workshop where people can decorate their own to take home. The weeks before the Festival are spent covering balloons with papier mache to make sure there are enough piñatas to decorate on the day.
At the Festival visitors can decorate those covered balloons into the piñata they want, and take it home. Tissue and shiny paper, glitter glue, crepe paper and, favourite of our Mexican facilitators – cup cake holders….
