I have met a lot of people since I was appointed! It has been exciting to tell them about my new job as Settlement Worker for Whistler and Pemberton. I have answered lots of questions about my new role.

These are the questions I heard most often:

What is a Settlement Worker? What does a Settlement Worker do?

Here is the answer:

Settlement & Integration: I need some information!

Immigrating to a new country can be a long process. It is important to be patient and to use resources that are available. As your Settlement Worker I can help you with many different things, I can talk to you about:

  • Registering your child at school.
  • Understanding important documents, like household bills and job descriptions.
  • Applying for Health Care, E.I., Childcare Subsidies and filling out forms.
  • Finding English Classes
  • Writing a resume and applying for a job
  • Getting your credentials from home assessed.
  • Applying for Canadian Citizenship.
  • Getting a BC Driver’s licence.

I can help with all of these situations and more, just ask!
